The Forgotten God

As I sit and write this post I am looking out a window watching the rain fall down. It amazes me how every drop of rain is known and directed from God Job 38:25-29.

Think about this for a minute, God is literally in everything!  There is nothing in all the earth where we can not find or see God. He created all things to display His Glory, His love, and His power; He created them for you and for me.

Let's take this a step further, He not only created all things to show us Himself but He the creator invites us into a personal intimate relationship with Him. He says, You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD Jeremiah 29:13-14.

To me this sounds like more than just a one time event, but a lifetime of events that take place as we seek Him. It sounds like as we seek after Him with all of our hearts that He wants to be found, he longs for the journey because along the way He can then continually reveal more and more of who He is.
But herein lies a problem. He is not a harlot that can be shared with others.  He will not share His heart with others gods! Deuteronomy 4:23-24. He is a jealous God that is searching throughout the earth for men & women who are fully devoted to Him alone.

Allow me to ask a question: Have you FORGOTTEN who God is even while doing the work of God?
Admittedly, at times I have gotten caught up in the work of God FORGETTING God. I heard it said this way: “The pace at which I’m doing the work of God is destroying the work of God in me.” Bill Hybels.
This must not be our story! We must STOP & REMEMBER who He is!
Think about it, the creator of the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the entire universe INVITES you and me into a personal intimate relationship with Himself.  WOW!
I challenge you today to stop what you are doing; I mean it, right now STOP!!!
Remember who it is you serve.
Go outside, open the scriptures, worship Him, forget about what might be going wrong and concentrate on the one who has invited you and me into this incredible relationship with Him.

He is waiting to be FOUND!

  1. As I read through this blog, immediately I asked myself have I forgotten God? The answer is yes. I have become complacent in the reality that I serve God but know beyond a shadow of a doubt that more times than not I am not emotionally attached to God. It's like going to my job and working for a boss but never speaking to them or having a relationship more than the expected check at the end of the week with his signature. It seems like that is how we tend to be as christians, expecting the check from God but not going after the relationship! My desire should not be to forget God, but to know Him more every day, every hour, every minute, and every second regardless of if I get something out of it. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, in this world can surpass the feeling of being completely and utterly emotionally attached through a solid relationship with God, nothing! BECAUSE HE IS BIGGER THAN EVERYTHING! It amazes me how God as big as he is can still be forgotten, by me! How foolish I am to react in life by things that are insignificant. I want to live a life of significance, and that only comes through knowing God and being desperatley and madly in love with Him! Not just today, but tomorrow, and the next day, and the next......Jesus is to Big and important to be forgotten! It would be better for us to walk outside naked forgetting our clothes than to walk around without God!

  3. It's funny. All day today I was depressed because of this rain. Everytime I had to go outside my thought was, "Yuck.. I hate this rain!" But after reading your first paragraph, you helped remind me how this world would be w/o the rain. God designed this place for us and w/o the rain we'd have a much less beautiful planet to remind us of his Glory! Thank you!!
